Luke’s practice focuses on environmental and water law issues in New Mexico. As a resident of rural northern New Mexico and an irrigator on the Acequia del Cano, Luke is tuned in to relationship between the people, the land, and the water of northern New Mexico and consequently seeks to further a sustainable, mutually beneficial relationship between the citizens, the business, and the environment of this beautiful and unique part of the country through the practice of law.
Luke earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa College of Law, graduating with distinction. He was awarded the Blake Champlin Environmental Law Award, given to the most outstanding graduating law student in Environmental Law. Additionally, Luke earned four CALI awards for the highest grade in Environmental Law, Contracts, Law of Sports, and Immigrant Rights Project. While in Law School, Luke spent multiple semesters representing immigration clients, meeting with ICE detainees, and taking trips to Matamoros, Mexico to help asylum seekers in the MPP program as part of the Immigrant Rights Project immigration clinic. He also participated in Project Commutation, a program helping incarcerated persons facing extraordinarily long sentences to seek commutation. In the summer after Luke’s first year of Law School he studied international law at University College Dublin. Luke also has a B.A. in Advertising from the University of Oklahoma Gaylord College of Journalism.
Prior to attending Law School, Luke worked in Economic Development in the city of Norman, Oklahoma. While there he assisted on the development and marketing of a new strategic plan for the city of Norman.
Luke and his fiancé, Sarah, live in Pojoaque, New Mexico. When he is not practicing law, Luke is building a sustainable food forest on their property. Luke and Sarah love to garden, cook together, backpack with their husky, play soccer, and ski. During basketball season, you can find Luke agonizing over Boston Celtics games.
